Update on the house

The house is still sitting across the field, waiting to be moved over to it's new location. The mover wanted to wait until things were a little drier before taking it across a hayfield! The date for the final move is tomorrow sometime--and we're excited about that. But even with it up on the back of a truck, we've still been in it checking stuff out more thoroughly and I've even removed a little wallpaper. Couldn't wait to get started at the mammoth task ahead of us! Once it's hovering over our new footers, and jacked up somewhat higher than we want it to end up, someone is coming to lay the block for the basement walls. Meanwhile, we'll be starting some work inside of it, ripping up flooring, tearing out a bit of drywall, and starting to remodel one bathroom. It's going to be a very long process, as Jere is still planning to work on the job as much as he can. I've been working some at making curtains, while we wait to be able to really tear into things, and we're working at refinishing an old claw-foot bathtub, so there's no lack of things to do.

Meanwhile, life goes on. We have two week old goslings we're raising, hoping to end up with all but 2 or 3 in the freezer--hope we like goose! :-) I just planted the sweet corn yesterday, and am waiting on a little more to be tilled so I can put in the muskmelon and watermelon yet. We're growing a gorgeous crop of weeds, if nothing else, and I need to make sure I spend more time out there pulling them! We had a stray kitty show up that Jaron quickly adopted, and he's been faithfully taking care of it. I'm hoping it does OK for him--it had a handful of deer ticks on it when we found it, and an abscess on it's lip. It looks much better now, though still a bit wild.

On Father's Day we joined family at a state park for the afternoon, and had a lovely time enjoying the sunshine and fresh breeze. Next weekend (June 28-30) we go to the Twin Cities for a very special birthday party. It looks like we have puppies coming in August--anyone want to speak for one now? ;-) I think that's most of the odds and ends for now...
